PHOENIX ANNOUNCE SQUAD FOR WORLD TENS SERIES IN BERMUDA

Phoenix will be coached by former Springbok Braam Van Straaten at the World Tens Series in Bermuda. 

The squad contains a number of players from the Southern Kings and includes two players from Lithuania. 

21-year-old hooker Gareth Heidtmann is one of several Southern Kings in the squad and is joined by Aston Fortuin, Aaron Brady and Patrick Holman who play in the second row. Denis Coulson, formerly of Connacht and Stade Francais, is a speacilist prop in the squad and Dean Murphy, who has represented the British Army Rugby Union, is another forward. 

Stefan Ungerer, Gavin Mills and Irishman, John Poland, are the specialist scrum halves, with three Scots in Lewis Berg, Robbie Chalmers and Scott Bickerstaff as options in the back line. Carel Coetze of the Cheetahs, and Edmun Ludick are included in Van Straaten’s squad of 20 players and can play in the centre. Old Glory’s 25-year old centre Corey Jones is the US representative in the group.  

Two Lithuanian players are also involved,  Jonas Mikalcius, who has played for London Scottish and  Zygimantas Radzius. Harry Barlow, Josiah Boafo, Andell loubser and Aki Raymond of Tiger Rugby are the outside utility backs. 

Former South Africa international, Braam Van Straaten is the Head Coach and will be assisted by another former Springnbok, Danie Coetzee.
