Terry Sands Chats With World Tens Series
How did the kit supplier partnership for the five WTS franchises come about?
I have known Jon Phelps for several years from Hong Kong where we have our factory. We have provided a kit for Jon’s Company (Carinet Sports Marketing) previously and so when Jon dropped me a message and told me about the Tens concept I was excited to become the matching kit and leisurewear partner for the teams and staff.
What were the inspirations for the design?
Time was a little tight for this project so we worked from previous design mood boards but added Geo patterns and additional styling as we felt appropriate for each team.
Knowing you were putting the design together for the five teams, was there challenges in making them different?
Our designers have time allocated every week to create new styles to add to our library and so although there were challenges due to manufacturing time scales, having this library and our own factory we were able to overcome those challenges.
Are there key technical features you can talk us through?
All Match Jerseys supplied are our new Iconix 220S Elite Jersey all featuring our exclusive Performex System fabric. These Jerseys have been engineered and developed in conjunction with our Professional teams such as Exeter Chiefs newly crowned European Champions.
What is your favourite jersey design?
I quite like them all but Miami Sun edges it for me.
What are your thought on the World Tens format and how do you so the series going?
I absolutely love the concept and can see it being a huge success over the next few years. The tweaks to the rules will make it so exciting and I can see spectators and viewers being glued to the edge of their seats.
